Soon after inaugurating the 47th International Film Festival of India, Naidu said: “P.V. Sindhu has won her first-ever China Open Super Series for badminton. Let us all clap and give her a standing ovation for the honour she has brought to our country.”
The main theme for the festival’s inaugural ceremony was “Ode to a Woman”, which celebrated the journey and contribution of women to Indian Cinema.
Sindhu, 21, won the title, beating China’s Sun Yu 21-11, 17-21, 21-11.
